An Identity Protection PIN is a six-digit number issued by the IRS. It is different from the five-digit PIN you may choose to sign an electronic return.

Every rejection code has a specific fix. Tell us what you're seeing and we'll walk you through exactly what happens next.
The prior-year AGI you entered doesn't match what the IRS has on file. Review the tax year, the person named in the rejection and the identity-verification entry before resubmitting.
The IRS issued you an Identity Protection PIN but your return was filed without it, or the one you entered doesn't match. Without the correct IP PIN, the IRS will reject every submission.
If you or a dependent had a Marketplace health plan, the IRS requires Form 8962 reconciled against your 1095-A. Filing without it — or with mismatched numbers — triggers an automatic rejection.

RefundIQ is an IRS-authorized e-file provider. Our paid tax return preparers hold active Preparer Tax Identification Numbers (PTINs). A PTIN identifies an individual preparer; it is not a CPA or enrolled-agent credential. Ask about the qualifications of the preparer assigned to your return.
Clients who owe taxes pay the preparation fee upfront. Clients who do not owe taxes have no upfront preparation payment. Preparation fees still apply; we explain the total fee and payment arrangement before filing. Any fee deducted from a refund reduces the amount received.
The difference is usually why you were rejected in the first place. Consumer software can trigger credits or miss updates that professional-grade tools catch. Your final number reflects what the IRS will actually accept.
Contact our team for document-submission instructions. Do not include full Social Security numbers, IP PINs, bank details or a complete tax return in an ordinary website message.
Once we refile, the IRS typically issues direct-deposit refunds within 10–21 days. We monitor acceptance and notify you immediately if anything else needs attention.
We can still help. Late returns can be filed and, in most cases, you're still owed your refund — there's no late penalty when you're getting money back. Call us and we'll walk through your specific situation.
