Appointments, fees and preparation

Appointment requests and agent availability

Request an appointment online 24/7. During tax season, agents are available Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. Eastern, with closing between 10 and 11 p.m. Our team confirms your appointment time.

Preparation fees and upfront payment

Clients who owe taxes pay the preparation fee upfront. Clients who do not owe taxes have no upfront preparation payment. Preparation fees still apply; we explain the total fee and payment arrangement before filing. Any fee deducted from a refund reduces the amount received.

Extension filing service costs $49.99. This service fee does not include any tax payment or preparation of the full return. See extension filing help.

Our e-file service and preparers

RefundIQ is an IRS-authorized e-file provider. Our paid tax return preparers hold active Preparer Tax Identification Numbers (PTINs). A PTIN identifies an individual preparer; it is not a CPA or enrolled-agent credential. Ask about the qualifications of the preparer assigned to your return.
